News – LAIT 4.0

The last meeting of LAIT 4.0, an Erasmus+ KA2 project coordinated by HETEL and with Dundee and Angus College (UK), ROC Da Vinci College (NL), KTPMC (LT), APRO Formazione (IT) and IK4 Tekniker as partners, has taken place this week in Kaunas (Lithuania).

The project started in 2016 and has been divided in 2 steps: first, the training of VET teachers on industry 4.0 and how new technologies are impacting business models, secondly the realization of technological check-ups in companies to find out their digital maturity levels and, above all, have better knowledge to cooperate with them from VET colleges in their roadmap towards a factory of the future.

Despite being the project in its last stage, the project partners have it clear that this has just started and we keep on working in different actions to offer the best training to our students to be professionals 4.0.

Resources and more information can be found in the project Website:

Apro in Dundee for the project LAIT 4.0

The second meeting of the partners of the project LAIT 4.0 will be held in Dundee from Wednesday 21st to Friday 23rd June and APRO Formazione with its sectors International and Tech will be among the participants.

LAIT 4.0 is a project co-funded by the Erasmus + programme of the European Union. The project leader is HETEL, a network of 20 vocational training centers based in Basque Countries. The aim of the project is integrating the novelties introduced by industry 4.0 into the school and vocational training offering.

To this end, 18 teachers - from Spain, the Netherlands, the United Kingdom and Lithuania - have been trained on industrial innovation in a course held at the beginning of last May at the Fundación Tekniker of Eibar (Spain), one of Europe's leading technology centers. The participants will transfer what they learned during this course to 50 colleagues; approximately 1,500 students are estimated to be the beneficiaries of a step-by-step training on this subject.

This week's Dundee meeting will be an opportunity for the project partners to give their feedback on the course in Eibar, to begin training their colleagues and involving companies in the project. The trained team will be looking to analyze the state of innovation of 20 companies (4 for each European Country involved) and to propose modernization plans to be implemented by the end of the project, in October 2018.

Course on industry 4.0. Our programme!

The first stage in the implementation of LAIT 4.0. is training VET teachers in those technologies related to industry 4.0. so they will be able to recognise them, know their applications in companies and be aware of their interrelation.

Our partner IK4 Tekniker will provide a training course to 20 teachers from Scotland, Lithuania, Italy, the Netherlands and the Basque Country to update their knowledge and skills related to industry 4.0. so they will be able to pass this to their learners but also to provide added value services to companies.

The course will have a duration of 35 hours and will take place between the 8th and 12th of May in IK4 Tekniker´s facilities in Eibar. During these days, the attendants will learn in a practical and experimental way about aditive manufacturing, collaborative robotics, Internet of things platforms, big data and implementation of technological check-ups in companies. The programme and expected learning outcomes of the course is available in this link:

    Start LAIT 4.0

It is not clear yet if the great technological developments we are living mean a true industrial revolution. What is anyway sure is that the so called Industry 4.0. is brining many organizational and technical changes in companies and VET colleges need to be ready to transmit this to their students.

Through the LAIT 4.0. project, cofinanced by the Erasmus+ Programme, with help of IK4 Tekniker, 7 teachers from HETEL´s schools, 4 from Dundee and Angus College (Scotland), 4 from APRO Formazione (Italy), 4 from Kaunas Technical Vocational Education Centre (Lithuania) and 2 from ROC Da Vinci (Netherlands) will update their technological knowledge to be able to assist SMEs and VET students in this adaptation process.

Last Thursday and Friday, 24th and 25th of November 2016, the project team met in the VET schools Maristak (Durango) and Zabalburu (Bilbao) to start working. During the meeting we developed a first draft of the training programme in industry 4.0. which will be provided in May by IK4 Tekniker to 18 VET teachers from the Basque Country, Scotland, Italy, Netherlands and Lithuania.
